Summer is a time most of us really look forward to. There is nothing that beats great weather and being outdoors more often! Summer may be a fun time for us pet parents, but we must remember that our furkiddos might not be able to keep up with us in the rising temperatures. Dogs are unable to regulate their body temperatures as well as we do. They can sweat through the pads on their paws, but panting is their main method for cooling down. We have listed some cool, fun, and super safe pet-friendly summer activity ideas that you can do with your best bud this summer!

Throw a Pool Party For Your Pup

Dogs are unable to regulate their body temperatures as well as we do. They sweat through the pads on their paws, but panting is their main method for cooling down.

We recommend buying a paddling pool, (preferably a pool that’s a little sturdier for the bigger pups) which can easily be purchased coming up to the summer months.

It is pretty simple after that. Grab the garden hose and fill it up with some nice refreshing and cold water. You can add in some more fun by adding some footballs or just your pups’ favorite toy. Don’t be afraid to get in, you can’t do all the hard work and just watch!

Make Some Pet-Friendly Pupsicles

Step one: Grab your ingredients. You will need one Frozen banana, chopped Frozen strawberries, some natural yogurt, and dog/cat biscuits. You will also need some popsicle molds.

Step two: Place all of the ingredients into a blender and mix on high until it becomes a nice and smooth texture.

Step Three: Pour the smooth mixture into your popsicle molds. Leave the mixture to freeze for 30 minutes and then add your dog/cat biscuit. The biscuits will act as the yummy popsicle handle. Pop these back into the freezer for another 5-6 hours.

All you have to do now is pop them out of the mold and they are good to eat especially on a hot summer day! You can also add some supplements to this mixture too! It can be an extra healthy treat for summertime!

Take Your Furbaby to the Beach

Providing the temperatures are ranging from average heat or you can take a quick road trip to the beach. We don’t recommend walking your pooches in extremely warm weather as it may cause them to Overheat.

We know that not every city will have its very own dog beach, but if it does it is definitely worth a trip! Be sure to bring a stick or a toy that you can use to play fetch with. Bring some fresh water and a bowl. (Oh, and don’t forget the poop bags!)

Do your research before taking your dog to the beach. It may not allow dogs, so it is always good to check that before becoming disappointed upon your arrival. Some beaches will also fine you for bringing your furry friend.

Take a Hike, Buddy!

This summer activity idea for you and your dog is if your pooch is active and enjoys its daily exercise. Pick a cool day to take them for an invigorating hike! There’s nothing like exploring new sights and smells for our dogs. Do your research beforehand and make sure that the trail is an easy one. We suggest keeping your dog on a leash especially if the area is heavily wooded. You do not want to end up losing sight of your friend. Just like the beach trip, it is essential to pack water for your pet along with poop bags and maybe even some treats.

Map out your route beforehand. The best time to go hiking during the summer will be cooler hours. We suggest going early in the morning or later in the evening to avoid the hot afternoon. You can also invite some pals that have puppers too. It gives you a great chance to catch up and enjoy everyone’s company!

We know how irritating the bugs can be at this time of year. We suggest bringing Target Spray that can help with deterring ticks and mosquitoes.

Coco Furcare can also be used to spray on your pup to help protect them from mosquitoes, ticks, and fleas.

These are only a few fun summer activities that you can do just for yourself and your dog. We’d love to hear from you about what you’ve come up with this summer! Let us know in the comments below.
